Subject:  ACAS (TCAS) – Pilots reminded to follow RA

This is a sequel to Bulletin B02-3 “ ACAS( TCAS) Alert Bulletin”

Attached is an ICAO State Letter which documents the need for and basis of urgent action by States Regulatory Authorities and aircraft operators to review rules, procedures and training programmes regarding the operational use of ACAS (TCAS).

The objective is to ensure that national aviation documentation and that of aircraft operators highlight the critical importance of following an ACAS resolution advisory (RA) and not manoeuvring opposite to the sense of the RA, even if ATC issues conflicting instructions.

Flight crew training establishments are also encouraged to be cognizant of this material.
