Subject: Revised guidelines for the use of Strategic Lateral Offsets

IBAC Bulletin B01-1 addressed the Subject: “Use of lateral offsets and the effect on airspace safety.” That Bulletin was issued in 2001.
ICAO State Letter Ref: AN 13/11.6-04/85 dated 27 August 2004 conveyed to States revised guidelines the use of strategic lateral offsets.
A copy of the above referenced State Letter is attached hereto.
Of particular note is that the application of strategic lateral offsets in controlled airspace require authorization by the appropriate Air Traffic Services (ATS) authority, Pilots should therefore look to NOTAMS for the initial promulgation of the application of strategic lateral offsets.
